Milly Babirye Babalanda has urged leaders and supporters of the National Resistance Movement in Mityana District to end internal conflicts and personal rivalries that are said to be weakening service delivery and affecting the party’s performance in the area.
Babalanda made the call while addressing NRM supporters during a thanksgiving and prayer function organised by Judith Nabakooba in Kalangaalo Sub-county.
She warned that continued divisions and infighting among party leaders were undermining unity within the ruling party and limiting efforts to effectively serve residents.
“These misunderstandings and internal fights are among the biggest obstacles preventing leaders from delivering satisfactory services to the people,” Babalanda said. “Leaders must learn to work together if they want to promote development and improve service delivery in Mityana.”
Her remarks come shortly after newly elected Members of Parliament concluded taking their oaths of office ahead of the new parliamentary term.
NRM supporters in Mityana acknowledged that political disagreements and conflicts among leaders had negatively affected the party’s operations and weakened coordination during the previous term.
Religious and youth leaders who attended the event also appealed for reconciliation and cooperation among political actors in the district.
Sheikh Ali Kasaluko emphasised the importance of unity and peaceful leadership, urging politicians to put the interests of residents above personal disagreements.
Meanwhile, John Ssenabulya noted that divisions within political leadership often discourage young people and affect public confidence in government programmes.
Some NRM leaders also admitted that, besides internal conflicts, voters in Mityana have at times made electoral decisions that affected the district’s ability to attract stronger government support and effective representation.
The event attracted several dignitaries from both central government and Buganda Kingdom institutions, as well as religious leaders from different faiths.
Babalanda used the occasion to once again caution NRM leaders in Mityana against engaging in unnecessary political fights, urging them instead to focus on unity, cooperation and service delivery during the new political term.
